Sacramento Kings center Maxime Raynaud left Saturday’s preseason game against the Golden State Warriors with a right knee injury and was taken to the locker room in a wheelchair. The injury happened late in the first half at Chase Center, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater and AP reporter Janie McCauley.

Slater reported that the Kings ruled Raynaud out with a right knee injury early in the third quarter after tests during halftime. Neither report confirmed a specific diagnosis or a return timetable.

Raynaud hurt while setting a screen

Raynaud was setting a screen for Darius Acuff Jr. with Stephen Curry defending nearby when the players collided. He grabbed his right knee and fell to the floor. Sacramento coach Doug Christie called timeout and went onto the court, where medical staff examined the center before helping him into a wheelchair.

AP reported that Kings general manager Scott Perry escorted Raynaud off the court. Team owner Vivek Ranadive later checked on him outside the locker room.

No confirmed diagnosis or recovery timeline

Slater reported concern among team sources that Raynaud could be unavailable for an extended period. That concern is not a medical diagnosis, and the available reports do not establish how long he will be out.

Raynaud averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over 74 games as a rookie last season and made the All-Rookie second team. Slater reported that he was expected to provide frontcourt minutes behind Domantas Sabonis this season.

Golden State won the exhibition 111-106, with Yaxel Lendeborg scoring 23 points. Raynaud’s medical status is a separate development from the game result.
