Myles Turner says he’ll use his voice to ‘lead this charge’ for young Bucks

With the most NBA years on Milwaukee’s roster after Giannis Antetokounmpo’s exit, Turner told CBS 58’s Cameron Ezeir his job this season is to lead with experience and professionalism.

Myles Turner says the Milwaukee Bucks’ post-Giannis chapter starts with the veteran voice in the room. Speaking with CBS 58’s Cameron Ezeir, the center made clear that after Giannis Antetokounmpo’s forced trade to the Miami Heat, his job this season is less about chasing old scoring totals and more about steering a younger roster with experience and daily professionalism.

What Turner said

“I got the most years on this team, just using my voice, using my experience to kinda lead this charge, more than anything,” Turner told Ezeir. He framed the assignment as one that began well before training camp: “The leadership role is something that I’ve been tasked with ever since the summer time. Just coming in every single day, just being a consummate professional. Being the guy I am, first one to show up and last one off the floor.”

A second year in a different Milwaukee

Turner is entering Year 2 with the Bucks after leaving Indiana on a four-year, $108 million deal. Last season he averaged 11.9 points per game — his lowest mark since his rookie year — while adjusting to a new team and a roster still built around Antetokounmpo. That landscape flipped when Antetokounmpo forced his way to Miami, leaving Milwaukee younger and more rebuild-leaning. Turner now carries the most NBA tenure on the roster and may also compete for minutes with up-and-coming center Kel’el Ware as rotations stay a work in progress through the preseason.

Why the leadership pitch matters

Turner’s comments land as Milwaukee resets expectations after a title-contender window closed overnight. He did not promise a scoring surge or a sealed starting job. He promised presence: showing up early, staying late, and using the years he already has in the league to set a standard for teammates still finding their NBA footing. For a Bucks group that suddenly looks younger and more transitional, that is the charge he says he intends to lead.
