SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 14, 2026) — Kristaps Porzingis was expected at the Golden State Warriors facility on Tuesday to meet sports medicine director Rick Celebrini and the medical and performance staff, the first planned on-site step in an absence that has covered the entire preseason.

Coach Steve Kerr said Monday that Porzingis would be in the building while the team played the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas, but offered no update beyond the meeting and no timeline for when the 7-foot-2 center might return to on-court work.

Still no public diagnosis or return window

The Warriors have described Porzingis’s situation only as an undisclosed health issue. He skipped media day and training camp, did not travel with the team for its Hawaii practices and exhibition, and has not appeared in any of Golden State’s preseason games.

A medical meeting alone would not clear him for practice. With the regular-season opener against the Lakers set for Oct. 21, Golden State still needs a clearer medical update before planning around him.

What it means for the frontcourt

Porzingis signed a two-year deal with Golden State in the offseason after arriving at last season’s trade deadline. The Warriors have leaned on other bigs through camp while he has been away, and Kerr has repeatedly said the club is waiting on medical information rather than setting a recovery calendar in public.

For now, the only announced development is the planned in-person evaluation with the medical staff. Any return to practice or games still depends on what the medical staff finds and what the team chooses to share next.

Golden State’s next public checkpoint is simply whether Porzingis begins individual work or remains limited to medical evaluation. Until then, the opener countdown continues without a firm answer on his availability.
