MINNEAPOLIS — Oct. 15, 2026 — Rudy Gobert finished the 2025-26 season as the NBA’s most accurate shooter. The Minnesota Timberwolves center made 335 of his 491 field-goal attempts, a .682 mark that topped the league, according to Basketball-Reference’s season leaderboards.

It is the fourth field-goal percentage title of Gobert’s career and his first since he left Utah. It is also the first time a Timberwolves player has led the league in the category.

The 2025-26 field-goal percentage board

Qualified leaders for 2025-26, per Basketball-Reference:

  • Rudy Gobert, Timberwolves: .682 (335 of 491)
  • Deandre Ayton, Lakers: .671 (403 of 601)
  • Neemias Queta, Celtics: .653
  • Jalen Duren, Pistons: .650
  • Jarrett Allen, Cavaliers: .638
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks: .624

Gobert’s .011 edge over Ayton held across every version of the shooting leaderboard. He also led the league in two-point percentage at .689 and in effective field-goal percentage at .682. With just five three-point attempts all season, all misses, his effective mark matched his raw percentage. Ayton has since moved on and is with the Washington Wizards this preseason.

How he got there

Gobert started all 76 of his games and averaged 10.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.7 assists in 31.3 minutes. His shots came almost entirely at the rim: 4.4 makes on 6.5 attempts a game, with 335 of 486 two-point tries going in.

The rest of his line matched that role. Gobert pulled down 872 rebounds, third in the league, including 299 on the offensive glass, second only to Donovan Clingan. His true shooting percentage was .664 even though he made only 52.6 percent of his free throws (159 of 302). He earned 8.7 win shares, 4.0 of them on defense, made the All-Defensive First Team and finished fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Fourth title puts him with Artis Gilmore

Basketball-Reference’s year-by-year list of field-goal percentage leaders now shows Gobert on top four times:

  • 2018-19, Jazz: .669
  • 2020-21, Jazz: .675
  • 2021-22, Jazz: .713
  • 2025-26, Timberwolves: .682

Only three players have led the league more often. Shaquille O’Neal did it 10 times, Wilt Chamberlain nine times and DeAndre Jordan five times. Gobert’s four titles tie Artis Gilmore for the fourth-most in league history.

Between Gobert’s titles, the crown went to other rim-running centers: Jarrett Allen at .706 in 2024-25, Daniel Gafford at .725 in 2023-24 and Nic Claxton at .705 in 2022-23. Gobert’s .682 was the lowest winning mark since his own .675 in 2020-21.

Early 2026-27 form

Gobert has kept the same profile this preseason. In four exhibition games he has made 9 of 13 shots, including 3 of 4 in Wednesday’s 128-106 home loss to Detroit, and he has averaged 20 minutes a night. He did not play in the Oct. 10 game at Miami.

Minnesota closes its preseason at Chicago on Friday, Oct. 16. The Timberwolves open the regular season at Miami on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
