The Dallas Mavericks posted a Sergio de Larrea individual highlight package from Wednesday’s 101-97 preseason loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at American Airlines Center. The clip runs just over two minutes and isolates de Larrea’s scoring, playmaking and defensive touches in a home game Dallas nearly stole in the fourth.

What stands out in the reel

De Larrea finished with 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, plus four rebounds, six assists, one steal and two blocks in 30 minutes. He led Dallas in assists and was plus-two while the Mavericks clawed back from a double-digit deficit. Teammates Tobi Lawal and John Poulakidas each scored 16, and Seth Lundy added 13. Jeremiah Fears paced New Orleans with 16 points and five assists; Zion Williamson went 5-of-5 for 10 points.

How the game unfolded

New Orleans led 24-18 after one and 56-45 at the half. Dallas trimmed it in a 18-19 third and then outscored the Pelicans 34-26 in the fourth, but New Orleans’ early cushion held for a 101-97 final. De Larrea’s minutes as a primary ball-handler in that late push are the clearest takeaway from this cut.

Why this reel

With de Larrea stacking assists and two-way plays in heavy preseason minutes, this is the cleanest official look at how Dallas used him against a Pelicans group that controlled the first half.
