Six preseason games were still going late Wednesday night, and the official accounts kept the clips coming: Jeremiah Fears breaking down defenders in Dallas, Caleb Wilson flying around in Milwaukee, Paul George setting up Jayson Tatum in Boston, Ryan Dunn hammering one home in San Antonio, a fast start for Detroit in Minnesota and Egor Demin scoring against Miami. Here are the best six, with a quick note on why each one matters.

Jeremiah Fears creates his own space

New Orleans’ 20-year-old guard had 12 points on NBA TV in Dallas before the night was out, and this clip shows how: he creates separation off the dribble whenever he wants it. He also split a double team and threw a lob earlier in the game. Ball-handling like that is why the Pelicans are giving him real minutes this preseason.

Caleb Wilson gets way up in Milwaukee

The Bulls’ rookie keeps putting dunks on tape. Against the Bucks he got his head way up near the rim for this jam, and that came after an earlier lob finish and a block on the way down. Chicago is going to run plenty of lobs for that kind of athleticism this year.

Paul George goes behind the back to Jayson Tatum

George got fancy at TD Garden against Charlotte, sneaking a behind-the-back dish to Tatum for the finish as Boston led in the third quarter on NBA League Pass. It is the kind of easy two-star connection the Celtics will want to see a lot more of after Opening Night.

Ryan Dunn’s exclamation-point dunk

Phoenix turned a stop into a runout in San Antonio, and Dunn finished it with a loud slam. The Suns called it defense turning into offense, which is exactly how Dunn’s game is supposed to work: guard the best wing, then get out and run.

JD goes to work early for Detroit

Six points, an assist and a steal in his first three minutes on the floor at Target Center. The Pistons’ JD made an instant impact against Minnesota, and this clip shows the energy Detroit wants from its first unit before the games count.

Egor Demin’s first half against Miami

Brooklyn’s second-year guard scored 12 points in the first half against the Heat. Demin’s shot-making is the swing skill for the Nets’ rebuild, and nights like this help his case for a bigger role.
