Six preseason games rolled deep into Wednesday night, and the late clips kept coming: Neemias Queta posterizing Charlotte, Giannis flirting with a triple-double for Miami, De’Aaron Fox finishing off Wembanyama in San Antonio, Jalen Duren punishing Minnesota, Mikėl draining threes for Brooklyn, and Yves Missi double-clutching in Dallas. Here are six plays worth watching, with a quick note on why each one matters.

Neemias Queta’s first poster of the season

Boston cleared the lane and Queta rose up for a loud dunk against Charlotte. The Celtics called it his first poster of the season, and it came with him already scoring in bunches off the bench. That kind of rim presence is exactly what Boston wants when the games start counting.

Giannis near a triple-double with a no-look lob for the Heat

Giannis flipped a no-look lob to Nick Richards and finished one assist shy of a triple-double as the Heat beat Brooklyn 144-128 at home. His line read 20 points, 15 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 blocks, and feeds like this show how much of Miami’s offense can run through him.

Wemby finds Fox, and Fox finishes

Victor Wembanyama slipped the pass and De’Aaron Fox slammed it home as San Antonio hosted Phoenix. The Spurs keep finding ways to put Fox in space off Wemby’s gravity, and finishes like this are why that pairing looks dangerous already in preseason.

Jalen Duren owns the first half in Minnesota

Twenty-four points on 8-of-9 shooting before the break at Target Center. Duren made his presence felt early and Detroit carried a lead into the third. That interior scoring is the Pistons’ foundation when the regular season tips.

Mikėl keeps knocking them down for Brooklyn

The Nets kept the Mikėl highlight reel going against Miami. Shot-making from the perimeter is what Brooklyn needs night after night as it evaluates its young core this preseason.

Yves double-clutches one home in Dallas

New Orleans’ Yves Missi went up, adjusted mid-air, and still finished through contact in Dallas. The double-clutch dunk is another reminder of the athleticism the Pelicans are getting from their frontcourt while Jeremiah Fears and company create.
