The New Orleans Pelicans posted their official highlight package from Wednesday’s 101-97 preseason win over the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center. The reel runs about five minutes and covers the full game from New Orleans’ side, including Jeremiah Fears’ two-way stretches and Zion Williamson’s efficient short stint.

Watch the highlights

What stands out in the reel

Jeremiah Fears led the Pelicans with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting and five assists in 20 minutes. Zion Williamson went a perfect 5-of-5 for 10 points in 18 minutes with a plus-14. Karlo Matković hit three threes for 11 points, and Derik Queen grabbed 11 rebounds. On the Dallas side, Tobi Lawal and John Poulakidas each scored 16, with Poulakidas going 4-of-8 from three, and Sergio de Larrea finished with 10 points, four rebounds and six assists in 30 minutes.

How the game unfolded

New Orleans led 24-18 after one and 56-45 at the half. Dallas trimmed it in the third (74-63 Pelicans after three) and outscored New Orleans 34-26 in the fourth, but the Pelicans’ early cushion was enough. The Mavericks’ late push made the final four points, yet New Orleans never surrendered the lead after the first quarter.

Why this reel

Fears’ playmaking, Queen’s work on the glass and Zion’s short, efficient minutes are the clearest takeaways. This is the best official package from a tight preseason win on the road.
