WILMINGTON, Del. — Oct. 13, 2026 — The Philadelphia 76ers have named Brad Jones general manager of the Delaware Blue Coats, the club’s G League affiliate, the team announced Tuesday.

A G League insider takes over

Jones arrives after eight years working in the NBA G League’s league office, giving him a detailed view of how the developmental circuit operates across all of its franchises. Before that, he held scouting and video positions with the Orlando Magic. The hire puts someone with years of league-level G League experience in charge of player personnel for Philadelphia’s affiliate.

He is not the same Brad Jones who works as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks; the two simply share a name.

An Orlando connection

Sixers general manager Jameer Nelson had a hand in choosing Jones for the job. The two overlap from their time in Orlando, where Nelson was the Magic’s point guard while Jones was working in the organization’s basketball operations.

The Blue Coats also filled their No. 2 front-office post, naming CJ Marchesani assistant general manager. Marchesani moves over after four seasons in Philadelphia’s scouting department.

Why it matters for Philadelphia

The affiliate plays a growing role for NBA teams as a place to develop two-way players, rehab injured players and test young prospects. That matters for a 76ers roster that is built to contend now but still needs cheap depth, especially with the team already thin at center to start the season.

Jones and Marchesani take over in Delaware ahead of the 2026-27 G League campaign, with the Blue Coats’ roster and training camp plans expected to take shape in the coming weeks as Philadelphia finalizes its NBA roster.
