The Dallas Mavericks announced Saturday that an MRI on Cooper Flagg’s left shoulder revealed a mild sprain. Flagg will miss Saturday’s home opener against the San Antonio Spurs and will be reevaluated next week.

Flagg suffered the injury in Friday’s 121-105 win in Indiana, when a hard foul by Aaron Nesmith sent him to the locker room just before halftime. He finished with 14 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in 17 first-half minutes and was initially expected to be evaluated over the next couple days.

The Mavericks appear to have avoided a major injury to their second-year forward, but he will likely miss at least a few games. After Saturday’s home opener, Dallas plays Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week.
