The Utah Jazz lost both of their starting forwards in the first half of Monday night’s 110-105 home loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, and neither returned.

Lauri Markkanen left for the locker room holding his right wrist with 5:58 remaining in the first quarter after his arm got sandwiched between Jaren Jackson Jr. and Cam Boozer when he became tangled with Boozer on the perimeter. He finished with two points in six minutes and was ruled out with a right wrist injury.

Jackson followed with 10:04 left in the second quarter, injuring his right knee. He had six points, three rebounds and two assists in 10 minutes before he too was ruled out.

Both players will have MRIs on Tuesday. “We’ll know more tomorrow once they get some imaging,” coach Will Hardy said, offering no immediate update on their status after the game.

Markkanen averaged 20.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists through Utah’s first three games, while Jackson averaged 19.7 points and 5.7 rebounds.
