The Dallas Mavericks have signed Matt Cross to a training-camp contract, according to Paul Garcia of Spot Up Shot, whose report was carried by Hoops Rumors and RealGM. The forward returns to the organization after spending last season with its G League affiliate, the Texas Legends.

RealGM reports that the signing brings Dallas’ camp roster to 21 players. A camp contract is not confirmation of a place on the regular-season NBA roster.

Cross returns after a G League year

Rory Maher’s Hoops Rumors report notes that Cross went undrafted out of SMU in 2025 and was signed and waived by Dallas last fall. He averaged 6.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in 36 regular-season games with the Legends in 2025-26, shooting 50 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from three-point range.

Hoops Rumors expects Cross to be waived in the coming days, potentially putting him on a route to a G League bonus if he stays with the Legends for at least 60 days. That is the outlet’s expectation, not a completed waiver or confirmed assignment. The signing is the completed move reported so far.
