The New Orleans Pelicans have waived Caleb Houstan, according to the NBA transaction log cited in Rory Maher’s October 12 Hoops Rumors report. The move ends the forward’s bid to make the team through a training-camp contract.

Houstan joined New Orleans on an Exhibit 9 deal in August. Hoops Rumors reports that he averaged 1.5 points in 10.7 minutes across two preseason appearances with the Pelicans.

A camp opportunity ends

The 23-year-old Canadian wing has played four NBA seasons, with Orlando and Atlanta. Maher lists his career averages at 3.9 points in 13.4 minutes over 186 games, with 37.8 percent shooting from three-point range.

The waiver does not identify his next team. Maher noted that the contract lacked Exhibit 10 language, so the report does not establish the usual bonus-backed route to New Orleans’ G League affiliate. No new NBA deal or affiliate assignment was announced in the report.
