NBA fans in Singapore have a new place to watch live games, and it is a long-term one. Disney+ and ESPN announced on Monday that live NBA games are coming to ESPN on Disney+ in Singapore starting with the 2026-27 season, as part of existing Disney+ subscriptions, in an agreement that runs through the 2035-36 season.

The games start on Thursday, Oct. 22 in Singapore. Because of the time difference, that is the morning after Wednesday night’s games in the United States.

What Singapore subscribers get each season

The package is built around a set number of regular-season games plus a real share of the playoffs, instead of only highlights and replays.

The Finals are only included every other season, in the odd-numbered seasons of the deal. ESPN will produce the coverage in English. The announcement said this will be ESPN’s 25th straight season broadcasting NBA games.

Asia Pacific is an incredibly important sports region, with a deep-rooted passion for basketball and a fan base that brings tremendous energy to the sports culture. Bringing ESPN to Disney+ allows us to build on that passion, connecting fans with more of the sports, athletes and stories they love.

That was Kylie Watson-Wheeler, who leads ESPN in Asia Pacific. She said putting the network inside Disney+ builds its standing “as one of the leading sports destinations in Singapore and across the region.”

Why the 2035-36 end date matters

The deal ends in the same season as the league’s 11-year U.S. media agreements with Disney, NBC and Amazon, which started in 2025-26. More and more, the NBA’s international TV and streaming deals are lining up with that U.S. schedule, so the same partners carry the league at home and abroad until the next big rights cycle.

It is also part of a larger push by Disney to make ESPN a section inside the main Disney+ app instead of a separate channel you pay extra for. In April, ESPN and Disney+ launched ESPN on Disney+ in 53 countries and territories across Europe and select Asia-Pacific markets, including Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. At the time, they said NBA coverage would be added starting with the 2026-27 season and that the offering would vary by market. Singapore now has the details.

The timing makes sense for the league. NBA leaders have spent the preseason talking about how global the game has become, and commissioner Adam Silver called it “a real sort of global flavor” in his Opening Night season preview. Overseas rights are one of the main ways the league earns money from that audience. We looked at how big that market has become in our story on record global sports media rights.

At home, the league is also spreading games across more platforms. Amazon is heading into its second season with an exclusive conference finals, which we covered in our NBA on Prime preview, and the league has added live-game links on TikTok and new in-app features to get fans from clips to full games faster. More league-wide stories are in our Around the league section.
