The San Antonio Spurs waived guard RJ Davis on Tuesday, according to the October 13 transaction list. The move ends his current NBA training-camp stint without establishing his next assignment.

An October 13 roster-moves report says Davis had joined San Antonio on an Exhibit 10 contract in September.

Austin is a possible next step, not a confirmed assignment

The same report says the Austin Spurs acquired Davis’ G League returning rights this summer. That gives his potential move to Austin context, but returning rights and an NBA waiver do not themselves confirm that he has joined the G League roster.

The report describes a possible Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $91,000, conditional on clearing waivers and spending at least 60 days with Austin this season. That is not a confirmed payment or a guaranteed NBA role.

Davis previously played for the South Bay Lakers after going undrafted out of North Carolina. His waiver is a roster transaction, not a conclusion about where he will spend the season.
