Dončić: questionable at Detroit with lower back tightness

The Lakers put Dončić on Sunday’s report Saturday afternoon. He leads the league at 40.1 points per game and has scored 40 or more in four straight games, including the 53 he put up in Friday’s NBA Cup win over the Trail Blazers. The 6 p.m. ET game in Detroit starts a back-to-back, with the Lakers at Atlanta on Monday. Detroit is still without Jalen Duren (right hamstring strain) and Isaiah Joe (right hip contusion).

Markkanen: right wrist sprain, questionable at Minnesota

Markkanen is a new entry on Utah’s report for the 7 p.m. ET game against the Timberwolves. The Jazz, who have lost seven straight, are also without Jaren Jackson Jr. (right MCL tear) and Jusuf Nurkic (right second plantar plate tear). Minnesota still lists Anthony Edwards out after his right knee arthroscopy and Donte DiVincenzo out after Achilles surgery.

Cavaliers: Allen, Merrill and Tyson out again; Enaruna waived

Allen missed a second straight game with the right knee contusion from Wednesday’s collision in Oklahoma City, Merrill sat with an elbow problem and Tyson missed another game with his right ankle sprain. New York, playing without Josh Hart (right ankle soreness), won 109-97. Cleveland then waived two-way forward Tristan Enaruna, who hurt his ankle late in Friday’s win over Philadelphia and is expected to miss an extended period, and re-signed Riley Minix to a two-way contract. The Cavaliers keep Enaruna’s G League rights. Their next game is Monday at Charlotte, where the Hornets expect to know more about Brandon Miller‘s right groin.

Saturday night: Okongwu back after a throat shot, McConnell’s short debut

Onyeka Okongwu took an elbow from Julius Randle on the first play of Atlanta’s game against Brooklyn and went to the locker room. The Hawks called it a throat contusion, listed him as questionable to return and cleared him minutes later.

T.J. McConnell made his season debut in Mexico City after his right hamstring strain and played nine minutes, all in the first half, in Indiana’s 114-102 loss to Denver. Rick Carlisle said McConnell should be able to play more on Monday in Dallas.

Draymond Green was upgraded from questionable to available before Golden State’s home game against Orlando, with Gary Payton II and Gui Santos also cleared.

Sunday’s other reports

Philadelphia lists Joel Embiid as probable at Chicago for management of his right plantar fascia. The Bulls have Jalen Smith probable with a left finger sprain, while Nic Claxton (left hamstring strain) and Tobe Awaka (left MCL sprain) are questionable and Zach Collins is out with a respiratory illness. Jordi Fernández ruled out Brooklyn’s Mikel Brown Jr. at Dallas for injury management, saying the rookie has not been cleared for back-to-backs yet. Sacramento has Keegan Murray questionable with left ankle capsulitis against Miami, and the Clippers list Bradley Beal (right knee injury management) and Brandon Ingram (right heel surgery) out against New Orleans.

Monday’s lists, including Charlotte’s update on Miller and Kon Knueppel, are due on Sunday afternoon. Our injuries page tracks every team’s latest report.
