Denver and the Clippers are still trading threes at Intuit Dome in preseason. Julian Strawther and Aaron Gordon knocked down Denver looks, Keaton Wagler and Brook Lopez answered from deep for Los Angeles, and Darius Garland set up Derrick Jones Jr. and Rui Hachimura before the half. The Clippers led 58-55 at the break — here are six clips from the second quarter.

Julian Strawther swings it for three

Denver’s ball movement ended with Strawther letting it fly from deep in the second quarter. He had nine points on 3-of-5 shooting and 3-of-4 from three by halftime — the kind of floor spacing Denver wants next to Jokic and Murray.

Brook Lopez from the corner

The Clippers called it Splash Mountain: Lopez stepped into a three from the corner and tied the half-court stretch. He had nine points on 4-of-6 shooting by the break, giving Los Angeles another scoring big when the starters sat.

Keaton Wagler from deep

The fifth overall pick stepped back and drilled a 26-footer in the second quarter. Wagler had eight points, five rebounds and two made threes in 20 first-half minutes while logging starter minutes at Intuit Dome.

Craft into Aaron Gordon’s three

Denver’s feed showed crafty creation into Gordon’s make from deep. Gordon had eight points and six rebounds by halftime, including four offensive boards, and that three kept Denver within a possession after the Clippers had nudged ahead.

Garland’s no-look finds Derrick Jones Jr.

Garland sold the fake, threw the no-look, and Jones caught and shot the three. Jones had 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting by the half; Garland added 10 points and three assists. That connection is why both are in the Clippers’ first unit.

Garland to Jackson to Rui for three

Extra pass, extra pass, then Rui Hachimura from the wing. Hachimura had six points by halftime on a night when the Clippers’ half-court offense kept answering Denver’s runs. Los Angeles led 58-55 at the break.
