The Philadelphia 76ers are converting Tacko Fall from his Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal, filling their open two-way slot, according to reporter Shams Charania. The team formally announced the move in a press release.

Fall, a 7-foot-6 center, made 37 regular season appearances for the Celtics and Cavaliers between 2019 and 2022, totaling 90 rebounds and 30 blocks in 228 minutes. Since being waived by Cleveland in 2022, the Senegalese big man has played for multiple teams in China and had a stint with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia’s NBL.

Fall has been sidelined during the preseason with a strained hip, but reporter Tony Jones noted he looked good in camp before the injury and has made an impact in Philadelphia’s locker room.

The move addresses a pressing need at center for the Sixers. Adem Bona has been out this month with a foot sprain, and free agent addition Ariel Hukporti suffered a torn Achilles in his preseason debut and will miss the entire season. With Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert holding the other two-way slots, Philadelphia had been expected to use the third on a big man.

Fall will back up Joel Embiid alongside Bona, Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker. He is eligible to appear in up to 50 regular season games and will earn a salary of $678,882 on his two-way deal. The Sixers are not in position to carry a full 15-man roster without a trade and are expected to open the season with 14 standard contracts.
