Friday NBA injury report: Luka Dončić off the list for Golden State, Tre Johnson questionable and Anthony Edwards’ knee procedure done

Luka Dončić is off the Lakers' report for Golden State, the Wolves say Anthony Edwards' knee procedure was a success, Tre Johnson is questionable and Ja Morant left Thursday's game with a hamstring injury.

All 10 teams playing on Friday have filed, and the biggest change is in Los Angeles: Luka Dončić is no longer on the Lakers’ report for the late game at Golden State after sitting out Wednesday with back tightness. Minnesota said Anthony Edwards had a successful procedure on his right knee on Thursday, Washington upgraded Tre Johnson to questionable, and Portland’s Ja Morant left Thursday’s loss to Memphis with a left hamstring injury.

Statuses below are from the league’s 1:30 a.m. ET report on Friday and can still change before tip-off. Times are Eastern. Egypt is now on UTC+2, so the 7 p.m. ET game tips at 1 a.m. Saturday in Cairo, the 7:30 games at 1:30 a.m., the 8 p.m. games at 2 a.m. and the two 10 p.m. games at 4 a.m.

Lakers at Warriors, 10 p.m. ET: Dončić is off the report

Dončić, who scored 41 in Tuesday’s loss in Portland, missed his first game of the season on Wednesday when the Lakers rested him on the second night of a back-to-back. JJ Redick said then that he hoped Dončić and Ziaire Williams would both be available on Friday. Dončić has no designation now. Williams, who missed Wednesday’s win over the Clippers with a sore left foot, is questionable with what the team lists as left foot and heel injury management. Cameron Carr (right oblique strain) and Adou Thiero (left knee injury management) are out, and Walker Kessler is available with a splint on his left finger.

Golden State has Gui Santos doubtful with left knee tendinitis. Yaxel Lendeborg is not on the report. Anthony Slater noted that the rookie was icing his sore left foot after Wednesday’s win in Minnesota but said he would be fine. Jimmy Butler (right ACL surgery) and Moses Moody (left patellar tendon surgery) are out, and Kristaps Porziņģis is out again, still listed as not with the team. Game Center.

Edwards’ knee procedure is done

The Timberwolves said Edwards had a successful arthroscopic debridement of his right knee on Thursday, performed by Dr. Craig Bennett at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. “He is expected to make a full recovery and further updates of his progress will be provided when available,” the team said. Minnesota did not give a timeline. Shams Charania reported earlier this week that Edwards could miss up to two months. He is listed as out for Friday’s home game against the Clippers, along with Donte DiVincenzo (right Achilles tendon surgery).

The Clippers have Rui Hachimura questionable with left quad soreness. Bradley Beal (right knee injury management), Brandon Ingram (right heel surgery), Max Strus (right plantar fascia tear), Jordan Miller (left rotator cuff surgery) and Yanic Konan Niederhauser (right Lisfranc surgery) are out. Game Center.

Hornets at Wizards, 7 p.m. ET: Tre Johnson upgraded

Johnson was a late scratch on Wednesday in Cleveland with right Achilles soreness, and the Wizards first listed him as out for Friday. He was upgraded to questionable on Thursday afternoon with right Achilles soreness and tightness, Greg Finberg reported. Justin Champagnie (right foot surgery), Tristan Vukčević (left hip impingement) and Jamir Watkins (left ACL surgery) are out.

Charlotte added Dennis Schröder to its report on Thursday as questionable with right foot inflammation and soreness. Coby White (left calf strain) and Grant Williams (right hamstring strain) are out, and Kon Knueppel is out on a G League assignment as he works back from his hamstring strain. Game Center.

Pacers at Heat, 8 p.m. ET

Tyrese Haliburton is out with the left hamstring strain that Rick Carlisle said will keep him out for at least two weeks, as covered in Thursday’s report. T.J. McConnell (right hamstring strain), Ivica Zubac (left ankle sprain), Ben Sheppard (left meniscus surgery) and Johnny Furphy (right ACL surgery) are also out. Andrew Nembhard (neck stiffness) and Aaron Nesmith (left hamstring strain) are probable. Miami lists only Simone Fontecchio, questionable with an illness. Game Center.

Rockets at Mavericks, 8 p.m. ET

Houston has Alperen Sengun and Marcus Smart questionable, Sengun with low back soreness and Smart with a left forearm strain. Reed Sheppard (low back soreness) and Steven Adams (right soleus strain) are out. Dallas lists Santi Aldama (right knee surgery) and Tarik Biberovic (right heel bursitis) as doubtful and Naji Marshall as questionable with an illness. Dereck Lively II (right foot surgery) and Sergio de Larrea (right knee sprain) are out, and Caleb Martin is available with a splint on his right thumb. Game Center.

Magic at Raptors, 7:30 p.m. ET

Orlando’s list has not changed since it filed on Thursday. Paolo Banchero (right low-grade high ankle sprain), Jalen Suggs (right knee contusion and bone bruise), Jonathan Isaac, Izaiyah Nelson and Noah Penda are out. Toronto has Kawhi Leonard out with left knee injury management. He is expected to miss about three to four weeks. Nate Bittle (right avulsion fracture) is also out. Game Center.

The other East games, 7:30 p.m. ET

Knicks at 76ers: Philadelphia lists Jaylen Brown as questionable with left knee soreness, with Dominick Barlow, Tacko Fall, Ariel Hukporti and Jabari Walker out. The Knicks have only Jose Alvarado (left ankle sprain) out. Game Center.

Pistons at Nets: Jalen Duren is out with his strained right hamstring, and Isaiah Joe is questionable with a right hip contusion. Brooklyn has Egor Demin out with a right bone bruise, along with three G League players. Game Center.

Nuggets at Suns, 10 p.m. ET

Denver lists Cameron Johnson as questionable with his right ankle sprain and Alpha Diallo as questionable for personal reasons. Julian Strawther (left knee sprain) and Spencer Jones (bilateral hamstring injury management) are out. Phoenix has Oso Ighodaro questionable with a right oblique strain and Mark Williams out after left shoulder surgery. Game Center.

Thursday night: Morant’s hamstring, and Poole sits

Morant scored 14 points in 23 minutes against his former team before leaving early in the fourth quarter of Portland’s 124-103 loss to Memphis. The Blazers said he would not return with a left hamstring injury. Micah Nori said Morant felt a twinge, that he had tried to foul to get him out of the game, and that he would be evaluated, with more known later. Portland plays in Utah on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET (9 p.m. Cairo), the first game of a four-game road trip.

In New Orleans, Jordan Poole did not play after being listed as doubtful with his left ankle sprain, and the Pelicans beat Sacramento 132-120 for their first win, playing without him, Yves Missi and Dejounte Murray. In Atlanta, Jaylon Tyson played 18 minutes for Cleveland after being questionable with a cervical strain, while Meleek Thomas (right foot) did not play. Jock Landale played 15 minutes with his nasal fracture and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Hawks’ 114-111 win.

What comes next

None of Saturday’s teams had filed by 1:30 a.m. ET. Utah, which hosts Portland, will update Lauri Markkanen and his sprained right wrist. He sat out Wednesday’s overtime loss to San Antonio. Jaren Jackson Jr. (torn MCL) and Jusuf Nurkić (plantar plate tear) are out. Morant’s evaluation is the other call to watch before that game. The injuries page tracks every team’s latest list.
