Philadelphia goes to Indiana on Wednesday with Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe both off its injury report. Both sat out Sunday’s 106-93 home loss to Detroit, Embiid to manage right foot plantar fasciitis on the second night of a back-to-back and Edgecombe with an abdominal contusion. Denver has upgraded Cam Johnson from out to doubtful with a right ankle sprain, Dallas lists Kyrie Irving as questionable for its home game against Oklahoma City, and Washington rookie AJ Dybantsa is questionable in Cleveland.
Wednesday has 12 games. Statuses below come from the league’s 12:15 a.m. ET report on Wednesday. Detroit, New York, San Antonio and the Lakers, all on the second night of back-to-backs, had not filed yet. Times are Eastern. Cairo is seven hours ahead, so the first games tip at 2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo.
How Tuesday’s calls turned out
Ausar Thompson played through his right ankle sprain at Madison Square Garden and had 11 points in 25 minutes, but Detroit lost for the first time, 111-97 to the Knicks. Isaiah Joe was downgraded from questionable to out with his right hip contusion before tip. In Boston, Jayson Tatum played the second night of the back-to-back and scored 40, including the overtime winner at the buzzer, in 42 minutes against Brooklyn. Derrick White, probable with right hip synovitis, played 33 minutes and scored 16. In Los Angeles, Scoot Henderson was active through his left ankle soreness, while Branden Carlson did not play.
76ers at Pacers, 7 p.m. ET (2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Edgecombe and Tacko Fall were full participants at Philadelphia’s practice on Tuesday, Kyle Neubeck reported. Edgecombe is cleared, but Fall (left quadriceps strain) is still out, along with Jabari Walker, who did individual work but did not practice with the left knee soreness that kept him out on Sunday. Dominick Barlow (low back stress reaction) and Ariel Hukporti (right Achilles tear) are also out. Embiid has no designation, so the 76ers are expected to have him for the first game of the trip.
Indiana’s list is longer. Tyrese Haliburton is questionable with left hamstring tightness, and Andrew Nembhard is questionable with neck soreness. Ivica Zubac (left ankle sprain), T.J. McConnell (right hamstring strain), Ben Sheppard (left meniscus tear) and Johnny Furphy (right ACL surgery) are out. Aaron Nesmith (left hamstring strain) and Obi Toppin (left hand sprain) are probable. Scott Agness noted that Haliburton is the fifth Pacer to deal with a hamstring problem since training camp. Game Center.
Hornets at Pistons, 7 p.m. ET (2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Charlotte has ruled out Kon Knueppel (left hamstring strain), Coby White (left calf strain) and Grant Williams (right hamstring strain). All three also sat out Monday’s 110-103 win over Washington. Detroit has not filed. Jalen Duren is out at least two weeks with a strained right hamstring, and the Pistons have to decide on Thompson and Joe again on the second night of a back-to-back. Game Center.
Wizards at Cavaliers, 7 p.m. ET (2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Dybantsa is questionable with a left ankle sprain, an upgrade after he sat out Monday’s loss in Charlotte. Justin Champagnie (right foot), Tristan Vukčević (left hip impingement) and Jamir Watkins (left ACL surgery) are out. Cleveland has ruled out Nae’Qwan Tomlin with a low back stress reaction. Its other two names are G League assignments. Game Center.
Heat at Hawks, 7 p.m. ET (2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Miami lists Simone Fontecchio as doubtful with an illness, and Pelle Larsson is probable with a right ankle sprain. Atlanta has cleared Jock Landale to play with his nasal fracture. Aaron Wiggins is questionable with a left knee contusion, and Mouhamed Gueye (left foot fracture) and Henri Veesaar (torn right ACL) are out. Game Center.
Magic at Raptors, 7:30 p.m. ET (2:30 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Both teams are without their best players. Orlando has ruled out Paolo Banchero (right high ankle sprain), Jalen Suggs (right knee bone bruise), Jonathan Isaac, Izaiyah Nelson and Noah Penda. Toronto has ruled out Kawhi Leonard with left knee swelling, and Nate Bittle is out with a right foot avulsion fracture. Game Center.
Nuggets at Pelicans, 8 p.m. ET (3 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Johnson missed Monday’s loss to Golden State, and the upgrade to doubtful suggests he is closer to returning but probably not back on Wednesday. Alpha Diallo (personal reasons), Spencer Jones (bilateral hamstring injury management) and Julian Strawther (left knee sprain) are out. New Orleans has ruled out Yves Missi again with his left knee bone bruise, and Jordan Poole is probable with an illness. Game Center.
Warriors at Timberwolves, 8 p.m. ET (3 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Minnesota is without Anthony Edwards, who will have an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee and could miss up to two months. Donte DiVincenzo (right Achilles repair) is also out. Golden State lists Yaxel Lendeborg as questionable with left foot inflammation for a second straight game. He carried the same listing on Monday and scored 31. Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody are out after surgery, and Kristaps Porziņģis is listed as not with the team. Game Center.
Rockets at Bucks, 8 p.m. ET (3 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Houston has ruled out Alperen Şengün with low back soreness, Marcus Smart is questionable with a left forearm strain, and Steven Adams (right soleus strain) is out. Milwaukee lists every player as available. Game Center.
Knicks at Bulls, 8 p.m. ET (3 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
New York had not filed after Tuesday’s win over Detroit. Jose Alvarado (left ankle sprain) was its only injured player on Tuesday. Chicago has ruled out Nic Claxton with a left hamstring strain, and Patrick Williams (right adductor strain) and Tobe Awaka (left ankle sprain) are questionable. Game Center.
Spurs at Jazz, 9 p.m. ET (4 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Utah got its MRI results on Tuesday. Jaren Jackson Jr. has a torn MCL in his right knee and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, while Lauri Markkanen is day-to-day with a sprained right wrist and is questionable. Jaxson Hayes is questionable with right shoulder soreness, and Jusuf Nurkić (right foot plantar plate tear) is out. San Antonio, which beat Sacramento 130-103 on Tuesday, has not filed. Tobias Harris (left calf strain) has not made his Spurs debut. Game Center.
Thunder at Mavericks, 9:30 p.m. ET (4:30 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
Oklahoma City, 4-0 despite its injuries, has ruled out Alex Caruso (right ankle sprain), Chet Holmgren (right knee patellar tendinitis), Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace, Thomas Sorber and Nikola Topić. Ajay Mitchell, who scored a career-high 30 against Phoenix on Monday, is questionable with a right ankle sprain.
Dallas has three new questions. Irving, who played 33 minutes in Monday’s 113-109 win in Miami, is questionable with left knee injury management. Naji Marshall (illness) and Caleb Martin (right thumb sprain) are also questionable. Santi Aldama practiced with the Texas Legends on Tuesday as part of his return from right knee surgery and was recalled, but he is doubtful for his Mavericks debut, Grant Afseth reported. Tarik Biberović (right heel bursitis) is doubtful, Dereck Lively II (right foot surgery) is out, and rookie Sergio de Larrea is out with a right knee sprain. Dusty May said there is concern because de Larrea is “such a tough kid.” Game Center.
Lakers at Clippers, 10:30 p.m. ET (5:30 a.m. Thursday in Cairo)
The Clippers have added Rui Hachimura to a long list. He is out with left quad soreness, and Tyronn Lue said Kobe Sanders will start in his place. Bradley Beal (right knee injury management), Brandon Ingram (right heel surgery), Jordan Miller (left rotator cuff surgery), Yanic Konan Niederhauser (right Lisfranc surgery) and Max Strus (right plantar fascia tear) are also out. The Lakers, who played Portland late on Tuesday, have not filed. Game Center.
What comes next
The four teams on back-to-backs have to file by the afternoon, and teams update again after shootarounds. The calls to watch are Haliburton and Nembhard in Indiana, Irving and Mitchell in Dallas, Dybantsa in Cleveland, Markkanen in Utah and Thompson and Joe in Detroit. Thursday has three games, Cleveland at Atlanta, Sacramento at New Orleans and Memphis at Portland, and none of those teams has filed. Tuesday’s report has the Kings’ timelines for Keegan Murray, Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell, and the injuries page tracks every team’s latest list.
