Wednesday, October 28, ties the busiest night of the young season, with 12 NBA games and 24 of the league’s 30 teams in action. Two of the league’s four unbeaten teams go on the road: the Houston Rockets, without Alperen Şengün, visit the Milwaukee Bucks and the Oklahoma City Thunder, now without Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for months, visit the Dallas Mavericks. The first four games tip at 7 p.m. ET, which is 2 a.m. Thursday in Cairo, and the last is Lakers at Clippers at 10:30 p.m. ET, or 5:30 a.m. Thursday in Cairo.

76ers at Pacers and Thunder at Mavericks are the national games on ESPN in the United States. The other 10 are on local TV and NBA League Pass. Four teams are on the second night of a back-to-back after playing on Tuesday: Detroit, New York, San Antonio and the Lakers. Records below include Tuesday’s results. The 7 p.m. ET games

Heat at Hawks. Miami is the league’s only 0-4 team after a 113-109 home loss to Dallas on Monday, when Giannis Antetokounmpo had 29 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists and Cooper Flagg won it with a layup in the final 10 seconds. Atlanta is 2-2 and lost twice to Houston in three days, most recently 120-110 on Monday, with Jalen Johnson scoring 21. Miami lists Simone Fontecchio as doubtful with an illness. Atlanta has cleared Jock Landale to play with his nasal fracture, and Aaron Wiggins is questionable with a left knee contusion. Game Center.

Wizards at Cavaliers. Cleveland is 2-1 after outlasting Minnesota 127-125 in overtime despite 47 points from Anthony Edwards; Donovan Mitchell had 26 and James Harden 22. Washington is 2-2 after a 110-103 loss in Charlotte, where Anthony Davis had 29 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie AJ Dybantsa, who sat out Monday with a left ankle sprain, is questionable, and Cleveland has ruled out Nae’Qwan Tomlin (low back stress reaction). Game Center.

Hornets at Pistons. This is a meeting of two of the East’s best starts. Charlotte is 3-1 after Brandon Miller scored 39 to beat Washington, and it did that without Kon Knueppel (left hamstring strain) and Coby White (left calf strain). Both are out again, along with Grant Williams (right hamstring strain). Detroit is 3-1 after its first loss, 111-97 at New York on Tuesday, so this is the Pistons’ second night in a row. They are without Jalen Duren, who will be re-evaluated in two weeks with a strained right hamstring. Ausar Thompson played through his right ankle sprain on Tuesday and had 11 points in 25 minutes, while Isaiah Joe was downgraded to out with his right hip contusion. Detroit had not filed for Wednesday as of 2 a.m. ET. Game Center.

76ers at Pacers, ESPN. Philadelphia is 3-1, and its only loss came at home to Detroit on Sunday, when Joel Embiid sat the second night of a back-to-back. The 76ers have been managing Embiid and LeBron James on back-to-backs, and Wednesday is not one, after two days off. Embiid and VJ Edgecombe are both off the injury report, while Tacko Fall (left quadriceps strain), Jabari Walker (left knee soreness), Dominick Barlow (low back stress reaction) and Ariel Hukporti (right Achilles tear) are out. Indiana is 2-2 after a 110-102 loss in Milwaukee on Monday, when it scored 17 points in the fourth quarter. Tyrese Haliburton is questionable with left hamstring tightness and Andrew Nembhard is questionable with neck stiffness. T.J. McConnell (right hamstring strain), Ivica Zubac (left ankle sprain), Ben Sheppard (torn left meniscus) and Johnny Furphy (right ACL surgery) are out. Game Center.

Magic at Raptors, 7:30 p.m. ET

Orlando’s injury list is a long one: Paolo Banchero (right low-grade high ankle sprain), Jalen Suggs (right knee bone bruise), Jonathan Isaac (left knee injury management), Izaiyah Nelson (left ankle injury recovery) and Noah Penda (partially torn right hamstring) are all out. Banchero expects to miss at least a month, and Suggs will be re-evaluated in two weeks. The Magic are 1-2 after winning at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. Toronto is 2-1 and will play without Kawhi Leonard, whom the team expects to miss weeks with left knee swelling, and Nate Bittle is out with a right foot avulsion fracture. Game Center.

The 8 p.m. ET games

Knicks at Bulls. The defending champions were 0-3 entering Tuesday and got their first win by beating Detroit 111-97, with Karl-Anthony Towns posting 27 points and 20 rebounds. They play the second night of a back-to-back in Chicago at 1-3. Jose Alvarado (left ankle sprain) was out on Tuesday, and New York had not filed for Wednesday as of 2 a.m. ET. The Bulls are 1-3 after a 134-99 loss in Boston on Monday. They have ruled out Nic Claxton (left hamstring strain), and Patrick Williams (right adductor strain) and Tobe Awaka (left ankle sprain) are questionable. Game Center.

Rockets at Bucks. Houston is 4-0 after Alperen Sengun had 29 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and a career-high 6 steals against Atlanta, with Kevin Durant adding 22 points and 4 blocks. But Şengün is out on Wednesday with low back soreness, Marcus Smart is questionable with a left forearm strain and Steven Adams (right soleus strain) is out. Milwaukee got its first win on Monday under coach Taylor Jenkins, with Tyler Herro posting 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists, and lists every player as available. Game Center.

Warriors at Timberwolves. Golden State finally won on Monday, 134-114 in Denver, behind rookie Yaxel Lendeborg’s career-high 31 points and 12 rebounds and an 8-for-8 night from Stephen Curry. Minnesota is 3-1 and just lost its unbeaten record in overtime in Cleveland, where Edwards played 41 minutes after being listed with right knee injury management. Edwards is out on Wednesday and will have an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee that could keep him out up to two months. Lendeborg is questionable with left foot inflammation for a second straight game, and Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody are out. Game Center.

Nuggets at Pelicans. Denver is 1-2 after that 20-point home loss to Golden State, and New Orleans is 0-3 and has not played since a 141-135 overtime loss in Denver on Saturday. Denver has upgraded Cam Johnson (right ankle sprain) to doubtful, and New Orleans has ruled out Yves Missi (left knee bone bruise). Game Center.

Spurs at Jazz, 9 p.m. ET

San Antonio is 2-2 after routing Sacramento 130-103 on Tuesday, when Julian Champagnie hit eight first-half threes and Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. The Spurs play on consecutive nights and had not filed for Wednesday as of 2 a.m. ET. Utah is 1-3, and both of its starting forwards left Monday’s loss to Memphis. The MRIs came back on Tuesday: Jaren Jackson Jr. has a torn MCL in his right knee and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, while Lauri Markkanen is day-to-day with a sprained right wrist and is questionable. Jaxson Hayes is questionable with right shoulder soreness, and Jusuf Nurkic is still out with a right plantar plate tear. Game Center.

Thunder at Mavericks, 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Oklahoma City has started 4-0 for a third straight season, but the roster that takes the floor in Dallas looks very different. Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace need surgery and are out indefinitely, Chet Holmgren sat Monday with right patellar tendinitis, and Alex Caruso sprained his right ankle in that game. Ajay Mitchell filled the gap with a career-high 30 points in the 125-114 win over Phoenix, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 26. Caruso and Holmgren are out on Wednesday, and Mitchell is questionable with a right ankle sprain. Dallas is 2-2 after Flagg’s 29 points and 11 assists won it in Miami. Kyrie Irving (left knee injury management), Naji Marshall (illness) and Caleb Martin (right thumb sprain) are questionable, and Santi Aldama is doubtful for his Mavericks debut. Game Center.

Lakers at Clippers, 10:30 p.m. ET

The Lakers are 3-1 after their first loss, 136-129 at home to Portland on Tuesday despite 41 points from Luka Dončić, so this is their second night in a row, and it is a rematch of a 125-117 Lakers win on October 23. Dončić also scored 52 on Sunday in Utah, and the Lakers had not filed for Wednesday as of 2 a.m. ET. The Clippers are 1-2 and are without Brandon Ingram (right heel surgery), Max Strus (right plantar fascia tear) and Bradley Beal, who is out again with right knee injury management. Rui Hachimura is also out with left quad soreness, and Tyronn Lue said Kobe Sanders will start in his place. Game Center.

What comes next

Thursday, October 29, drops to three games: Cavaliers at Hawks (Game Center), Kings at Pelicans (Game Center) and Grizzlies at Trail Blazers (Game Center), where 4-0 Memphis meets 3-0 Portland. The first two tip at 8 p.m. ET and the Portland game at 10 p.m. ET, which is 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday in Cairo, after Egypt’s clocks go back an hour at midnight on Thursday night. Every night is on our schedule page.
